A popular floor today is hardwood flooring, however wood floors are not practical for everyone. Hardwood Floors need to be maintained properly to sustain it’s finish and luster. Households that have small children, pets, or high traffic may need to consider an alternative flooring to fit their needs.
Now there is material that will give the same authentic feel of hardwood flooring. The “Colonial Wood” collection is a ceramic tile that is made into 6″ x 20″ Planks. This Ceramic wood look tile is installed with a staggered installation just like authentic real hardwood flooring. It’s hand scraped look attributes the feel of a rustic hand scraped look. The benefits are incredible. If a pet has an accident, the soiled area simply can be mopped and sanitized. Small children can ride their bikes, roll their cars, and bounce their balls on this floor with no sitely indication of abuse.
Grout is not an issue. There are many grout choices that will blend into the colors of Mahagony, Pecan and Walnut. The grout joints can be installed with a thin 1/8″ joint. A thin grout joint is cosmetically recommended, so the floor will look like a real wood floor.
There are products out on the market that will prevent grout soiling. A non porus epoxy grout manufactured by Laticrete. This product is Spectralock. Spectralock eliminates staining, and also is infused with “Microban”. Microban is a anti disinfectant. This grout is especially beneficial for pet owners. Another product out there is “Grout Once!”. Grout Once! is a grout additive that is mixed in with any typical sanded grout. Water is totally eliminated! This grout sealer protects topical and all the way through the grout joint.

We just recently had a water heater leak and flood our already finished basement. They people who are repairing my basement are suggesting an expensive laminate, since I don’t want carpet. Is the tile a lot more expensive than the laminate, I know installation is probably more, but how about the product? I like your 6″ x 20″ Pecan Colonial Wood.
